Listing Windows XP Processes along with their Command line parameters
Listing Windows XP Processes plus Command line parametersFor seasoned Windows XP power users familiar with the names of various executables, a quick look at the Task Manager (CTRL-SHIFT-ESC) is often enough to indicate the presence of viruses and trojans. Sometimes, however, the viruses and trojans piggyback onto other processes and thus do not show up as individual exes. The following tip which I originally found at http://windowsxp.mvps.org/listproc.htm lets you display the entire command line used to invoke a particular executable. This aids greatly in figuring out if you have been infected by just about anything short of rootkits. WMIC /OUTPUT:C:\ProcessList.txt PROCESS get Caption,Commandline,Processidor WMIC /OUTPUT:C:\ProcessList.txt path win32_process get Caption,Processid,Commandline
